FYI, there is a discussion going on in the Trademark Clearinghouse list
concerning whether IP numbers should be used. Some of it sounds very familiar
from our work, and other Whois debates. Is the information needed? Will its
collection create problems with data protection authorities? At what point, if
at all, has a party consented?
