*1 Update following the Wellington ICANN meeting *
*Marilyn Cade gave an update of Whois related developments in Wellington.
Suzanne Sene added several points of information. Task force members asked
if the GAC still planned to host a workshops on several public policy
aspects of Whois (data protection, consumer protection, intellectual
property). Suzanne Sene responded that the GAC would not hold future
workshops but instead concentrate on the development of a concept paper on
the broad range of policy concerns governments have about Whois. There was
then a discussion of GAC members' positions on the two formulations of the
purpose of Whois. *

*Actions:*
- *Jordyn Buchanan will make the GNSO Council aware of the need to
represent a wide range task force viewpoints on Whois during any future GNSO
Council / GAC Working Group interactions. *
- *Jordyn Buchanan will request the GNSO Council to provide feedback
on how it plans to respond to the GAC Wellington Communique as it applies to
the Whois Task Force. *
*2 **D**iscussion of the GNSO Council vote regarding the purpose of
Whois*
The task force briefly discussed the GNSO Council vote on the purpose of
Whois.

*Actions: *
- Glen to forward to the task force the relevant section of the
draft minutes of the GNSO Council meeting that voted on the formulations of
the purpose of Whois. Glen will update the task force when the minutes are
finalised.
- Task force members were strongly encouraged to read the minutes of
this discussion.
*3 Status of Avri Doria's membership of the task force*
There was a brief discussion of the precise status of Avri Doria's
(Nominating Committee appointee to the GNSO Council) membership of the task
force. Avri volunteered to not exercise a vote until the issue is clarified.
*Actions:*
- Liz Williams to complete consulting with ICANN legal counsel and
clarify the status of Avri's task force membership.
- Jordyn Buchanan to follow up with Bruce Tonkin on the GNSO
Council's original intentions.
*4 Whois and national laws (GNSO Council recommendation to the ICANN
Board)*

*Actions:*
- Maria to provide an update to the task force on the status of this
recommendation following the most recent ICANN Board meeting.
*5 Chairmanship of the task force*
The task force discussed the future chairing of the task force as a result
of Jordyn Buchanan's change in position. A task force member had asked ICANN
staff to clarify whether task force co-chairs are permitted by the ICANN
bylaws. The task force agreed that Jordyn would continue to act as chair and
explore his ability to continue chairing the task force till the conclusion
of its work. The task force also agreed to move quickly to resolve its
chairmanship; by 9 May, 2006.
*Actions:*
- Liz Williams to revert to the task force with a clarifying view
from legal counsel on the issue of co-chairs in the ICANN bylaws
- Jordyn Buchanan to consult his new employer and revert to the task
force on his future availability to chair the task force - by 9 May.
- The interim period of Jordyn Buchanan continuing as acting chair
will last until 9 May, 2006.
