Whois Services

Sorry to make this process slightly more confusing, but I had some problems
with the formatting of the voting section and wanted to fix it. As I did
that, I came to the conclusion that the straw polls probably shouldn't be
given the same "weight" as the official vote on publishing the report, so
I've made the following changes:

1) Moved the results of the straw polls to footnotes in the sections
describing each of the policy recommendation that the poll applied to (these
footnotes just provide some additional detail into something that is already
reflected in the report: who supports the various proposals).

2) Changed the formatting of the voting table to have one cell per vote. On
my system, the Xs didn't line up with each name, which left the chart
looking slightly strange. I think I've fixed that.

3) Added a statement in the voting section saying that we conducted the
straw polls and where to find the results, and that the call for
constituency statements will provide constituencies further opportunity to
clarify their policy position.

I'll reset the 24 hour timer as of now. If we don't hear any objections,
we'll publish the version I'm sending out now.

Hi Maria:

Is the voting chart for Accuracy right? I thought I had Ross and Avri
abstaining, as opposed to voting no.

Also, in looking at this I think it may not actually be right to put the
straw poll on the same footing as the "offical" vote on publishing the
report. I'm going to send out something to the list that moves it into a
footnote in each of the relevant sections--but can you confirm the Accuracy
vote?

Dear all,

Attached is the Preliminary Task Force Report on Whois Services for your
final review before it is posted for public comments.

The task force has agreed to a final 24 hour period for comments. This time
tomorrow - assuming no substantial comments have been received - I will send
the report for posting on the ICANN website.

As we are up against the US Thanksgiving holiday, can you please have your
comments to me in advance of this time, tomorrow? It will be a challenge to
get the report published on our website, and if I have the report finalized
by this time tomorrow it will help me to ensure this happens.

Many thanks, Maria
