Bob, I wanted to thank you for your post. I think it is very important for
those who are concerned about domain name tasting to be aware that there are
many registrars who are focused on trying to provide excellent registration
services to the average run of the mill registrant who wants to register a
domain name to put up a web site and interact with the 'public' to sell
goods and services. I agree that it may begin to look like all the
registrars are supportive of tasting. Your post was helpful.

I applaud ICANN's start at a few of the kinds of statistics and facts that
are needed. And I encourage ICANN staff to keep publishing statistics, and
even fine tune them. Along with the other data gathering the Ad Hoc group is
trying to do, and with more information about all sides of how tasting is
affecting users, how it is contributing to cyber squatting and other kinds
of information will also inform the work of this ad hoc group, the public at
large, and the GNSO Council.

I appreciate your taking the time to post.

Marilyn Cade

Dear Ad-Hoc:

Watch it!!!

We certainly do not all "LOVE domain tasting". A few do, it's a
millionaire's game -- and RegisterFLY may have crapped out playing it;-}

I realize it was a quote from an article (Modern Domainer?) , but don't take
it as universally true, it is only a few well endowed registrars which can
play it.

On a different subject, I note that I was quoted on my posting on the proper
use of Add Delete Grace Period. I mentioned "fine tuning" our software. I
would like to add that part of that need was to check out our Merchant
Account. Our system was to run the credit card as soon as the registrant
completed the registration form and clicked to buy the domain. Immediately
after a successful Add command, we ran the credit card. By using the
company credit card, our cost was only the credit card processor's
percentage on Verisign's US$6.00 charge, perhaps 2.3%.

Regards, BobC
