Eric,

The queries I'm talking about isn't about running whois because I need to get this information for every (or most) emails I process. It would involve servicing million of queries an hour. And don't need the whole whois - just the registrar, age, and number of recent changes.

I'll skip down to the questions ...

1) The domain's registrar.

whois:43 or whois:80.

2) The number of days old based on the current domain owner?

last changed data in whois, but the better choice is a nightly zonefile fetch and construct your own horizon(s)

3) The number of name server changes made in the last 3 days?

see #2, zonefile fetch, where the number would be almost always 0 or 3.

Eric
