The prefix hijack, which I've mention a couple of times off-list and on,
e.g.,
AS36561, AS7007, AS27506 and AS9121 are all events which altered
routing. Today's "accidents" are tomorrow's exercises in operational art.
Operational art been demonstrated, with AS path prepending, a
significant improvement on prefix hijacking.
You'll probably see something about secure BGP in the next few days. And
you can all read RFC 2827, aka BCP 38.
The knob to turn is somewhere in the trust anchor space, so somewhere
proximal to the IANA, or the RIRs, or neither, and either proximal to
the delegation chain / trust anchors for the DNS, or not. Failure to
find the knob means the 'bot problem continues, regardless.
