Meeting Summary and Action Items
CCT Conference Call, 8 July 2009 at 1900 UTC
Attendance:
Mason Cole
Chris Chaplow
Gisella Gruber-White (Staff)
Glen de Saint Gery (Staff)
Ken Bour (Staff)
Mason began by thanking everyone for a very productive session in Sydney.
Just prior to today's session, Mason sent out a summary of the key problems
and questions that he recommended be the team's focus. He asked for any
feedback/input and those on the call generally confirmed his approach.
Mason asked for any alterations to the prior meeting's minutes and, hearing
none, approved them.
Mason then referred to the discussion points posted by Julie from Sydney.
The first items to be reviewed were Tasks 1-2. Ken reported that he and
Scott Pinzon will be meeting with Marc Salvatierra on 9-10 July in Marina
del Rey (MdR). He noted that Scott will be assuming a leadership role in
this project given his new position as Director - Policy Communications.
Ken briefly related one of Scott's ideas concerning creating "segment-based"
site access, which will be explored in MdR with Marc and others. Chris
added that he had opportunities in Sydney to meet both Scott and Marc and
thought their discussions were productive. He emphasized that, in his
view, it will continue to be important to add more explanatory text to the
GNSO website and thought that Scott's background as a writer would be a huge
plus in that regard. Mason agreed with Chris' observation and thought that
our communications mission certainly incorporated that concept. Ken
commented that Scott recently had the opportunity to review the team's
Business Requirements and, in that connection, a few of his suggested
changes relate directly to enhancing the user experience including adding a
"glossary" of terms. Ken reported that there is an effort in progress to
build a GNSO glossary and there is some sentiment brewing that it might be
turned into a Wikipedia effort owned by the entire community. Ken added
that Scott is clearly focused on tailoring the GNSO website to provide all
users with a rich and productive experience.
Mason then moved on to Task 3; however, no one from sub-team was on the
call. Mason indicated that he will seek an update from the group and
report subsequently via the email list.
Concerning Task 4, Mason mentioned being pleased with the discussion in
Sydney including Chris' and Ken's comments which have now been incorporated.
Mason acknowledged that he still has the drafting work to be completed.
Mason indicated that he has not yet sent the CCT's Business Requirements
document to the OSC. Ken then suggested that we wait until early next week
so that Scott's edits/changes can be incorporated. Mason concurred and
Ken took the action item (see below).
The discussion concerning our comprehensive team report was postponed until
we have a larger component of team members available. Mason suggested that
it be handled via the email list.
Action Items:
Ken will wait for an updated version of the Business Requirements document
from Scott Pinzon and, after sharing with Chris and Steve (sub-team), will
send it to the CCT for any final comments before requesting that Mason
submit to the OSC.
The CCT's next meeting will be in two weeks on 22 July at 1900 UTC.
The meeting was adjourned.
