[gnso-osc] Latest Draft Invitation and Work Team Rules
Thank you all for the fast and very helpful comments on the draft invite today. I have cleaned up the latest version and am re-circulating a clean copy that reflects the growing view that Wolf-Ulrich's two-part approach would work well. I think it is important to have background information available to potential volunteers who are not intimately familiar with the process to date. Please also respond to Olga's suggestions as well. Also, with all the draft document versions going back and forth, please remember to review and comment on the Draft Work Team Rules. I have re-attached the latest version of that document that Wolf-Ulrich commented on yesterday. So far only Philip, Wolf-Ulrich, Stephane and Chuck have commented on that document. Once we get closure on the rules, we can incorporate them back into the draft team charters, get further committee feedback, and then re-post the new draft charter versions to the wiki. Thank you all for your continued focus and commitment to this effort! Best regards, Rob Hoggarth On 12/17/08 11:24 AM, "Olga Cavalli" <olgac@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi, I like the new message. Is this message going to be widely spreaded? If so, it could be convenient to add at the end a brief paragraph about the expected bacground or experience that volunteers may have in order to participate actively. Also areference to an expected amount of dedicated hours could be useful to include. Thanks Robert and Wolf for drafting the document. Regards Olga 2008/12/17 Gomes, Chuck <cgomes@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Makes sense Wolf. Let's discuss the costs issue later if needed. Before we discuss potential kinds of incentives (I could imagine a variety of) we should reach a harmonized view about - whether it is worth or not to offer incentives (my opinion is: yes but only in case we fail in the first call for volunteers) - that ICANN should bear related costs (do we need Board approval for that?) Let's start with a non-incentive call and see what happens. Good idea. Like Stephan, I am curious about what incentives we could offer. That's no content change, just an communication improvement, hopefully. BTW since finding volunteers seems to be the real challenge, why shouldn't we - in worst case only - think about incentives? To get discussion going, I proposed some edits and inserted some comments that are highlighted in the attached file. To minimize confusion, I suggest that everyone use the attached version, understanding that you should feel free to disagree with my suggestions and suggest new changes. The announcement is currently designed for all five GNSO work teams (three OSC teams and two PPSC teams). Decision/feedback points include: * General edits and comments regarding form, style and text; * Announcement methodology - is the group OK with email announcement as well as ICANN web site announcement? * Contact points - left blank in the draft, to whom do you think expressions of interest should be directed? * Statements of Interest - do you think these are appropriate for work teams? Please direct all comments to the entire list. Best regards, Rob Hoggarth Attachment:
