Phil,
I think that would make you the sole other member of group A at the moment --
staff will correct me if I'm wrong. So, welcome. I'm asking everybody to read
the following document, as it represents at least one successful attempt to do
this sort of thing in the past. It's the work of AUda, an Australian industry
association:
http://www.auda.org.au/policies/auda-2004-04/
I leave for Seoul in about four hours, so I will see you and the group there.

Sorry to be so late getting back on this.
Please put me down for both groups. As I understand it, the first will mostly
revise and ok the staff summary of current rights, while the real action and
work will be in the second that considers what additional rights should be
proposed.
Best regards/see many of you at the Seoul meeting.

RAA-DT participants,
Please see below the report from our call yesterday that Beau and I have sent
to GNSO and ALAC as suggested, including the revised timeline.
As agreed on the call yesterday, please advise Glen de St. Gery (copied here --
glen@xxxxxxxxx) as soon as possible whether your preference is to participate
in subteam A (registrant rights charter) or subteam B (identifying issues for
possible RAA amendments). Glen will create subteam mailing lists accordingly.
While there is certainly no bar to joining both subteams, they will be working
in parallel and we would hope for active participation from everyone on the
lists, so please do so only if you have time to participate actively on both
subteams.
Please respond to Glen no later than Monday, Oct. 5 if possible. Of course
additional participants are welcomed but please encourage them to step forward
as soon as possible.
Steve Metalitz, co-coordinator

RE: Next steps on RAA/Registrant Rights Drafting Team
DT: 10/1/09
Yesterday the RAA Drafting Team held its first meeting since the Council’s
September 3 approval of its charter. We volunteered to serve as
co-coordinators of the DT. We wanted to advise you of some of the key outputs
of the meeting, for your circulation throughout ALAC and GNSO as you think
appropriate.
Sub-teams: Sub-teams will work in parallel on task A (Registrant Rights
Charter) and task B (identifying issues for possible RAA amendments). We will
circulate to those already signed up on the mailing list, asking them to state
their interest for one or the other subteam, and will create two mailing lists
accordingly. Beau will coordinate subteam A and Steve will coordinate subteam
B.
Timelines: The charter provided no timeline for task A, and the timeline
proposed for task B is no longer achievable (since it called for a draft report
to be circulated by 30 days after charter approval, i.e., October 3). The
charter recognizes that adjustments to the timetable may be necessary. Those
on the call agreed to aim to circulate draft documents by 30 days after the
Seoul meeting (i.e., late November). We will seek to start drafting work prior
to Seoul and will explore the possibility of a face-to-face meeting (with
remote participation) in Seoul.
Participation: There are currently about 41 people subscribed the mailing
list, split almost evenly between GNSO and At-Large. We think this provides a
critical mass to start the work. Of course additional volunteers would be
welcomed but we urge them to sign up as soon as possible.
Please let me or Beau know if you have questions.
