hi all, there's that draft i was using on the call today. you should note that i've had a go at that introductory sentence escrowing the two kinds of data in WHOIS. here's my first try WHOIS contains two kinds of data about a domain name; information associated with the Registrant of the domain, and information that describes the status and Registrar of the domain. we pushed a couple of topics out to the list for discussion. Evan raised the point that we're either reinventing the wheel with the definitional work we're doing, or we're exceeding our authority as a drafting team by creating such definitions. Jeff raised the point that the working group should also be tasked to consider what happens if the WG does NOT reach consensus on proceeding with thick WHOIS. i encourage a lively exchange on the list about both of those topics with the goal of putting them to bed next week. in fact, let's try to aim for a goal of putting the whole first-draft to bed by next week. thanks all, mikey Attachment:
