Actually significant numbers of domains are managed by 3rd parites who
transfer between registrars. There are many, many, instances of your very
scenario that occur daily and have for years without challenge.
Look at any registrar that ICANN has forced shut and all those domains were
transfered w/o registrant participation. In fact GoDaddy, your employer has
taken more than one failed registrar so you might even have better numbers
on how many domains have experienced this transfer of jurisdiction and of
course you could look to see if any of your new registrants complained.
