Thanks for the comment, Michele. I was going to suggest that but it clearly
means more coming from an EWG member.

And even if a monolithic public lookup system is the final decision, what
people will want from it still needs to be discussed.

Michael

I'm on the EWG, so I'll speak to that .. (though I can't speak for the EWG as a
whole)

The EWG's report is not "final" or "done".

We have been and continue to examine any and all relevant data, so I'd view
this data as being very useful.

Regards

Michele

Hi Berry

Thanks again for all the hard work, and thanks for everyone who participated.
However, I have to ask, given the recent report by the Whois expert working
group, which recommends a singular monolithic Whois, is this data still useful?
What do others think?

Best Regards,

Michael Young

Hi Steven,

You beat me to the punch sending an email to the list. I’m having a few ICANN
Staff review the draft report for feedback and I expect to get it tomorrow.
After making changes, I will send it out to the WSWG no later than next Monday
for the WG to review it and begin solicitation for feedback.

Based on comments or suggested changes supplied to the mail list, we can then
make a determination if we need to reconvene the WG, post the report for public
comment, or submit the final report directly to the GNSO Council.

In short, there seems to be general support for most of the technical
requirements supplied in the Inventory of WHOIS Service Requirements final
report. However, the initial draft recommendations in our Final Report are few:

1. Final determination on whether ICANN should create a machine parsable
list of WHOIS services (port 43, web)

2. Deliver report to EWG for their consideration

3. Deliver report to IETF WEIRDS for their consideration

I will send it out shortly. Thank you everyone for your patience.

Hi Berry,

I note you addressed the drafting of this report on the pre-Durban policy
webinar today. Please let us know when you expect this draft report to be

Team,

Based on limited participation, we will be suspending the WSWG calls. In the
meantime, ICANN Staff will complete the analysis and report. Thank you again
to those who have contributed, it will be helpful in getting all sections
completed.

Once the draft report is complete, I will send it out to the WG mailing list
for feedback from the team. After any changes, we can decide then if it is
worth opening a public comment forum or not prior to delivery to the GNSO
Council.

My apologies for the late cancellation for today’s session!

Take care, B
