closing of the forum

This is formal notification that this forum has been closed for comments.

 

As previously notified
(http://forum.icann.org/lists/iana-idn-process/msg00007.html ), the IANA
Root Zone Procedures for Test IDN Deployment was approved by the ICANN Board
at their San Juan meeting.

 

Additional, and as announced today
(http://icann.org/announcements/announcement-06aug07.htm ), the Root Server
Operator Procedures for Emergency Revocation of Evaluation-purpose IDN TLDs
(previously announced as the IDN
<http://icann.org/topics/idn/idn-tld-tolerance-measure-02jun07.htm>  TLD
Root Server Performance / Tolerance ) has been completed as well.

 

The procedures are currently being implemented by IANA.

 

As announced, all comments have been taken into consideration in finalizing
this work. Thanks to those who participated.

 

In terms of forward looking activities regarding the IDN Program:

The next milestones in the IDN Program Plan requires obtaining necessary
approvals to insert the eleven suggested evaluation top-level domains (the
term <.test> translated into eleven languages). (See the IDN .test
Evaluation Plan at http://
<http://icann.org/announcements/announcement-2-19jun07.htm>
icann.org/announcements/announcement-2-19jun07.htm). An additional
announcement will be made once the approvals have been received. It is
anticipated that these evaluation TLDs will be launched in late September
2007.
