Thanks Bart for forwarding this.

And thank you Jothan for all the help previously.

It is good to know that the wider internet community is paying attention to
this matter. But I think our work on the subject is far from complete :-)

Subject: [jig] Message Jothan Frakes: Concerted efforts Mozilla to eliminate
the IDN Whitelist approach

Dear all,

Jothan Frakes expressed his regrets for not having being able to participate in
the activities of the group and will not be able to do so in future. He also
epresses his gratitude for the hard work of the group.

He asked me to share with you that Mozilla has made a concerted effort to
eliminate the IDN Whitelist approach that they had been using, which governed
the presentation of A-Label or U-Label depending upon being listed.

The new approach that is implemented in upcoming releases is documented here:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/IDN_Display_Algorithm

If someone wants to track the status of the implementation, they can do so here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=854041

This will greatly advantage both existing and upcoming TLDs with IDN at any
level in the Domain Name (top, second, third, etc), and is part of the
preparation in the community for Universal Acceptance.

Kind regards,

Bart
