DENIC should get .net
I second the application of DENIC eG to operate the .net TLD. There are several reasons for this: 1. They have proven to be able to handle a huge top level domain as they already operate the second largest TLD and largest ccTLD (which is .de, if you did not know by now). Their service is fast, reliable and all that a reasonable cost. 2. Pricing. Most of the success of the .de TLD lies in its cheap price which allows for lots of interesting offers and bundles (e.g. you can get a .de domain name for free with DSL). VeriSign, on the other hand, keeps the price for .net (and also .com) on a constant high level that allows for a big profit margin on their end but for far less interest in the .net TLD. 3. VeriSign Ltd. is one single company that has one reason for existence: Maximizing profit. DENIC is a registered cooperative of many German webhosting companies. And as you can see in their statement: "DENIC is not profit oriented; but rather sees itself as a neutral not-for-profit service provider for everyone[...]" (http://www.denic.de/en/denic/index.html) Therefore I strongly support DENIC's application which will be most beneficial for webhosters, end customers and the Inter".net". With the help of DENIC, the .net TLD will be stronger than ever and with .com names becoming rarer by the second, it could well become the second largest TLD under DENIC.
