Summary of public comments for new gTLDs
November 2007
Background
After two years of work, the GNSO Council approved a final report into a
process for introducing new generic top-level domains. The report contains a
proposed policy for how that process can be implemented, including contract
terms, evaluation criteria, and dispute resolution processes.
This public comment period was set up to allow the community to provide
feedback and comments on that report. In total, one relevant comment was
received.
This analysis attempts to summarize the relevant comments from the online
forum. Where possible and practical, individual comments have been
attributed to individuals or organizations by attaching initials to the
comments. A key to the initials used can be found at the end.
General comments
The commenter felt that ICANN should not expand the generic top-level domain
space beyond those top-level domains that already exist [BS].
