[npoc-voice] Action Needed: NPOC comments on applicant support

Hi All,
Thank you for a great call this afternoon!
Urgent - Comment Period
ICANN re-opened the new gTLD Applicant Support Financial Assistance Program for
public comment, which closes tonight. Community members are frustrated with
this program as we are 2 days before the launch of the new gTLD program and the
criteria to apply and qualify for financial support are still unwritten making
the already limited financial support available, unusable.
I propose that NPOC join with the public comments made by the At-Large New gTLD
Working Group on the draft Applicant Support Program (previously known as JAS).
The comments may be viewed here:
http://forum.icann.org/lists/new-gtld-applicant-support-handbook/msg00007.html.
NPOC also signed on with the public comments made by JAS on this topic during
the Dakar meeting in October 2011.
If you have any objections to the NPOC signing on to the At-Large comments
please let the list know as soon as possible. I plan to submit a short
statement tomorrow morning in support of the At-Large comments with the proviso
that NPOC strives to represent the majority view and that the comments may not
represent a specific NPOC member.

Subject: [npoc-voice] NPOC Call tomorrow Jan. 10 at 2100 UTC
Hi All,
Happy New Year! And my goodness it snuck up on me. Our next conference call
is tomorrow, January 10, 2012 at 4pm EST (21:00 UTC). Please email me directly
if you require the conference call number. The passcode is 5913.
The big topic for tomorrow's call will be our long-awaited elections and to
begin soliciting nominations. The list of open positions can be found on our
website: http://npoc.org/npocelections.html. You may either nominate yourself
or someone else (and an email to this list will suffice).
The new gTLD program is still set to launch Thursday, January 12th. The UDRP
is up for consideration and we need to formulate our message. WHOIS is another
topic that we need to solidify our message.
Kind regards,
Amber
