Re: [npoc-voice] URGENT - Expression of interest - GNSO NCPH January 2013 Inter-Sessional Planning

Dear Colleagues,

In response to the call for expression of interest issued regarding the
Inter-sessional session that will take place in LA next January, I would
like to state that I would be interested in participating for the
following reasons. 1/ Since I had the opportunity to represent NPOC in the
IGF BAKU that recently took place, as discussed with some of you
informally, I came to the conclusion that there is a need  for us as a
constituency to reflect further on our role within ICANN. Specifically,
about how ICANN´s mandate and the issues at its heart are and can be
relevant to the NGO community. With new members coming in, I feel that we
should, as a group reflects a little more on these questions all together
and maybe even produce a concept paper. The first morning slot of the LA
agenda seems like a perfect opportunity to do so if the rest of the
delegation agrees. 2/It will also be an opportunity to be part of an
interesting debate on how the GNSO is going to evolve and make our voice
heard, specifically with the changes regarding the GNSO structure that
will come up at some point. Some delicate issues are likely to come up and
as the newest ICANN constituency we certainly have specific issues to
rise. 3/ In terms of image and presence, it will be a key opportunity for
us also as the newest ICANN constituency with growing members to
participate on an equal footing along with other GNSO constituencies when
discussing strategic issues face-to-face with ICANN staff. I believe that
all this will be a positive contribution to NPOC-EC future plans and
actions.
