Dear NPOC Colleagues.

I am pleased to advise that ICANN's NCSG-Executive Committee has approved
the British Red Cross' NCSG Membership Application at its meeting held on
Dec 21st.

British Red Cross had already been been accepted in principle as an NPOC
member a long time ago, conditional to NCSG Membership approval.

I am looking forward to the growing involvement of British Red Cross
Colleagues in ICANN/NCSG/NPOC activities. Internet governance, including
governance of  the Domain Name System, requires civil society's involvement
equal to that of governments and private sector companies. As you all know,
this is far from the case as I write to you today. Large not-for-profit
organizations like the British Red Cross have an opportunity, and perhaps a
special responsibility, to lead civil society in doing so.

Please join me in welcoming the British Red Cross to NPOC.
