ICANN and Verisign's Reach Proposed Settlement

Dear Sir,
 
With great concern we received the disturbing news about the proposed
settlement between ICANN and Verisign. Even though we only represent 60 
com/.net domain owners but knowing that Verisign will be able to increase
the registration price of the domain names at 7% each year will greatly
impact our business because we will have to either raise prices or loose
even more money in the slim gap of money made on our domain name
registrations.
 
ICANN (The Non-Profit Organization) is supposed to act as an administrator
of the Internet on behalf of the Internet community and not to help
companies like Verisign to increase their profits by holding a monopoly on
the .com/.net domain market especially by allowing Verisign to cut the
number of accredited registrars by doubling the fees that accredited
registrars must pay to ICANN and I strongly feel that it is very important
to protect the Internet from big corporations like Verisign.
 
This Proposed Settlement will decrease the popularity of the .com/.net and
the domain owners will find it more economical to use other tlds such as .ca
 .uk or .cn. or even the New.net (.inc, .llc, .travel, etc.)
 
We strongly suggest that ICANN should review the proposed settlement again
and do what ever it takes to save the Domain registration and web-hosting
industry.
 
I personally think that ICANN should perform a survey before taking the
decision about signing this settlement because after all the millions of 
com/.net registrars, resellers and owners should be its main concern and the
actual decision makers. ICANN can easily accept this settlement with
Verisign but what would they do if people started to shift to other tlds,
what would Verisign do then? Verisign can come and go but these millions are
actually the structure of the Internet without them they will be out of
business.
