HI,
This is a response to Eric's question about the availability of the
CoCCA software. CoCCA is a group of ccTLD operators that have shared
developments costs to create a world-class domain registry tool, and
the policy structure to support it. It is in use by more than 30
TLDs, including a few IDN TLDs. The current licensing can be found at http://cocca.cx/index.php/cocca-tools.html
Another openly available registry tool is FRED, built by the .CZ
operators. http://fred.nic.cz/
Both of these registry tools have been built for ccTLDs, which do not
have the same exact technical requirements as the new gTLD program, so
the applicant should perform due diligence to confirm the registry
they choose has all the necessary functions (searchable WHOIS, DNSSEC
support, ICANN reporting, etc).
I'll ask around to find out if there are any others that can be posted
to the list.
