Proposal for .mail domains
Sirs -
The idea of registering .mail domains is a sound one. As the administrator of a corporate email system, I know the flood of spam will continue to weaken the faith users have in email communications. It's already happening to a some degree at our organization, but if projections are correct and measures are not taken now, email as we know it will no longer be the communication vehicle of choice by a large majority of end users. At Toro, we use black hole lists, use a spam filtering system,
aggressively administer black and white lists, block many attachment types, and
manually sift through thousands of blocked emails looking for false
positives. Our white list alone contains over five thousand entries and the
black list a thousand. Even with the aggressive approach we've
taken, enough spam makes it through to inconvenience users
and the delay in receiving incorrectly tagged false positives can
impact business transactions. Anything we can add to reduce the
administrative burden and reducing the flood of unwanted junk would be
welcome. Your proposal would definitely help.
