DotAsia comments on Proposed Implementation Plan for Synchronized IDN ccTLDs

DotAsia (.Asia) appreciates the opportunity to provide the following
comments on Proposed Implementation Plan for Synchronized IDN ccTLDs.

As one of the member of Chines Domain Name Consortium, or CDNC, DotAsia
fully supports the statement submitted on April 12th, 2010, by Co-Chairs of
CDNC (http://forum.icann.org/lists/sync-idn-cctlds/msg00006.html). We would
like to emphasize the recommendation on appropriate solutions that will
enable the immediate implementation of the simultaneous delegation of
Simplified and Traditional Chinese TLDs. Synchronized IDN ccTLDs
Implementation Plan will allow Simplified and Traditional Chinese TLDs to be
delegated in the root simultaneously.

We also acknowledge the current "Synchronized IDN ccTLDs" activity is
limited only to variants management over IDN ccTLD. We believe, however,
that same issues should be addressed and resolved before the New gTLD
program launches. ICANN should organize a webinar / workshop, before and
during the Brussels meeting, to review and address technical, policy, and
legal concerns over variant string management at the top level based on
previous recommendation (www.icann.org/en/topics/*new*-*gtlds*/*idn*-*
variants*-15feb10-en.pdf) with reference from the Proposed Implementation
Plan for Synchronized IDN ccTLDs, if approved by the Board on April 22nd,
2010.
