Good morning,
cf.
http://www.icann.org/translations/draft-translation-programme-v2.2-13feb08-en_EN.pdf
(and FR)
On fundamentals: on page 13 there are references to important ISO standards,
and instead of authoritative ISO 3166/MA documents, your quote some free
websites. That is lack of professional approach. Does ICANN consider than
taking a copy of A-root-server from an alternate root provider is as good as
taking it from the authoritative IANA source? It is precisely what you are
doing with regard to ISO authoritative source. Please note ICANN is one of
10 voting members of ISO 3166/MA, its knowledge of ISO 3166 is not second
hand.
The authoritative ISO 3166-1 decoding table is at
http://www.iso.org/iso/iso-3166-1_decoding_table
The start of ISO's focal point for country codes is at
http://www.iso.org/iso/country_codes.htm
The authoritative ISO 639-1 and ISO 639-2 tables are provided by the US
Library of Congress http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php
On quality: your document has been just released, brand new, and already
broken links, page 10, http://www.commonsenseadvisory.org does not work. Yet
another non authoritative source?
Best regards,
Elisabeth Porteneuve
