Vote on the Domain Name and Whois System

Please note that I am writing in support of Motion 2 with regard to the vote 
that the GNSO Council will hold on October 31, 2007.  That is, ICANN should 
conduct an objective and comprehensive study on the legitimate abuses and uses 
of Whois data before making any policy changes that may permanently alter the 
structure of the domain name and Whois system.
I use Whois data on a daily basis to help my clients protect their valid 
trademark rights.  Undoubtedly, the number of abuses already present in the 
domain name system would increase many fold if the Whois data is no longer 
available to consumers and businesses.  I urge the GNSO Council to adopt Motion 
2 and reject Motions 1 and 3.
