I am trademark counsel for General Motors Corporation.  I understand that 
you are considering making changes to the Whois database and have three 
motions before you.  I ask that you vote for Motion 2 and reject Motions 1 
and 2.  As a trademark owner, we are certainly concerned about the impact 
of abuses of our valuable intellectual property.  But inexorably tied to 
that concern is a concern about the impact of those abuses on consumers. 
As a trademark owner, we have an important responsibility to protect 
consumers from confusion caused by unauthorized users of our trademarks. 
Having easy access to accurate Whois information is critical to addressing 
those unauthorized uses.
