Support of Motion 2 on Whois system vote

Dear Members of ICANN's GNSO Council: 
Deere & Company is aware that the council is considering changes to the
current Whois system. Deere & Company supports adoption of Motion 2 to
study the abuses and uses of Whois data before any changes would be made
to this important source of information for intellectual property rights
owners. Whois information helps Deere & Company to address and resolve
many matters including intellectual property issues and consumer
complaints about Web sites. Restricting access to Whois information or
removing Whois information would significantly increase business costs
and hamper Deere & Company's efforts to protect its intellectual
property. 
Deere & Company respectfully requests that the members of the GNSO
Council adopt Motion 2 on October 31st.
