XXX and why it is a good thing

After reading all of the postings I am surprised at some of the objections and how little grounding they have. Porn sites don't need to lose their .com domain, they simply retire it. Then its just a matter of re-pointing the IP to the new .XXX domain. So any corporation that has built a brand will not lose any traffic therefore that argument just doesn't stand. What you will then have is all law abiding porn sites with .XXX so that they can easily be identified. This allows the large portals such as Google. MSN, Yahoo etc to filter these sites for the user, should they wish this.

XXX, creates the 'top shelf' for the Internet.

Porn is not going away, you cannot ban porn from the Internet, nor anything else for that matter. What you can do is support an idea that helps keep porn away from minors. Obviously, there maybe rogue operators in the Porn business who will ignore XXX and continue to entice any paying customer to their sites. However, part of the proposal is to create a non-profit making organization made up of the Porn industry that will look at self legislation and the driving out of bandit sites.

XXX can only be a good thing. How would we get on without Cinema Classification such as R ratings that help protect minors? I don't see that XXX is any different.

Robert Smith
