The creation of a .XXX TLD does nothing but prey on parents' desires to have a
simple solution to preventing their children from finding adult content
on-line. The key problems:

1) There is no practical way to filter the thousands of sites that are already
on-line using .com & .net addresses (plus various country TLDs) & force them to
move to a .XXX. Most site owners will not be able to register their original
.com address in its .XXX counterpart. They'll be snapped up in bulk, just as
we've already seen by the registrars who are taking "pre-orders". How many
companies own both the .com & .net? What about various country designations?
How would domain disputes be settled?

2) What's to stop someone who registers a new .com address from putting adult
content on it? How are bloggers handled at various subdomains? Jail time
because someone posts a screencap of Janet Jackson's Super Bowl performance???
What about people from countries outside the US?

.XXX does nothing but lure parents into a false sense of security, preying on
their desires to keep their children safe & using that to make money.

A more reasonable solution would be a .kids domain. It should be more
difficult to register, first of all. You should have to confirm your identity
& provide a valid phone number. A host should need some kind of special
designation to be allowed to host .kids addresses & fully co-operate if the
content on a .kids site is changed to something questionable. A reporting site
could be set up so that anyone who finds something on a .kids address that they
don't feel should be there, it could be reported quickly & action taken to
remove the content.

Adding "clean" sites 1 by 1 is a manageable task versus trying to remove
thousands of adult sites that have owners, registrars & hosts scattered around
the world.
