.XX is a step backward... The solution is ICRA.

.xxx solves nothing.

1. There's no domain shortage problem. New tld's just confuse users and has
proved they don't add value.

2. If parental filtering is the goal, then this is the wrong solution. The
government's problem has always been "defining" obscenity. Whether adult
sites choose .com or .xxx, whose going to decide when it's appropriate?
Will international countries agree with the US definitions? In addition,
forcing a web-site to change their domain has many other business
consequences and organizational challenges.

3. The solution should be self rating through ICRA. ICRA should be
mandatory for all web-sites. Rating guidelines are clear for both sexual
and violent content, and webmasters of all countries should be able to
follow them. A web-site not using ICRA (containing sexual/violent content)
or not properly following the guidelines should receive a fine and warning.
Repeated offense should result in harsher penalties. It costs webmasters
nothing to self-label and takes as little as 5 minutes to setup.

Take this issue seriously. Nobody wins here. Working toward a wrong
solution just wastes everyones time in the end.

Regards,
Rick
