I am reading this with much concern. Having more TLD's is quite appealing and I'd love to see more short and snappy domain names become available.

However, I think there are some important trademark issues that need to be resolved. I think domain names need to be viewed similar to street names, telephone numbers and even peoples real names.

Adding more domain names at this time would simply bring on a steady stream of more litigation and law suits based on trdemark infringements. And there'll be a dramatic surge in organizations and individuals trying to protect 'their' name by registering anything and everything that resembles their protected name in any conceivable top level domain.

Before there are any further TLD's created I would strongly suggest some firm interpretations and guidelines as to the relationship of domain name and trademarks.
