Subject: I think the whole DNS system will disappear in 4-5 years

Before DNS all the hosts on the ARPANET/Internet was listed in a single, big text file.

When that became unmanageable, the hierachial DNS was invented. And it has served it purpose until now. But now it has also become unmanageable, and we need something new and better.

I think, that in 4-5 years, the URL with the DNS name as a central part of the information contained therein, will disappear from the screen of the average user. And it is the average user that are of interest to all the marketing types out there. Instead, intelligent search engines and personalized agents will automatically find the correct site for us based on multiple attributes instead of just a trademark + .com.

So what is all the fuzz about?
