In a way you are right:If you flood the market with ugtlds and you get, let's
say 10'000 CocaCola domain names owned by 10'000 people trying to take profit from
that name, then none of them will profit anymore and the trademark issues will automatically
stop to exist within the Internet.
Every consumer will immediately ask: How can
I find the REAL CocaCola website?
Easy answer: go to Cocacola.reg or use a search
engine with the words:
CocaCola + trademark
This would make .reg attractive
to CocaCola and solve the trademark problems.
It would not be difficult to set
up a new searching method ADDING "trademark" and eventually "international/country"
to the searched word. Every trademark owner could get a free entry there.
ICANN,
just do it. Solve the trademark problem.
