You are so right. I share your worries and even registered
a domain in connection with these worries (see link below). However, I've come to
the conclusion that there must be some sort of fair chance for all to get a good
name in .biz (or whatever is approved). If they will be grabbed by some big domainname
collectors to a large extent, the new gTLD will probably fail. Why? For the very
same reason that there are so few three-letter dot com domains that are actually
used. They are for sale. If the same happens to, say, .biz, it will fail. Few sites
will mean little acception of the gTLD. If this happens, some people will loose
money from stupid speculation. Some new registrars will make money. Let them.
