is as it was to the IPC proposal, only shorter. Chartered
personal domains? Other than presumably having to be a person to apply, what would
the other criteria be for entry and exit? Secret handshakes? What entity would create
and manage such a charter? These 'owners' of content seek to constrain the entire
namespace for all users and all time because of the present actions of a minority.
I own intellectual property, I do not cybersquat, I am not a software pirate, I do
not use Napster. But this hardnosed attitude by the big rights holders to make their
position paramount with no regard for others simply increases the backlash by more
of the others, who then consider it open season on anyone claiming any rights. Neither
the big rights holders nor the rights abusers are a majority of net users. Please
ICANN, do not leave us out here in no-mans-land while the two sides shoot at each
other from their trenches, hitting only us. Garry Anderson sums it up correctly
and more succinctly. This is a joke.
