Blending the board and self nominated candidates into one pool will have the effect of eliminating the categories.  The self nominated category provides for the elevation of members outside the existing leadership cadre from which the board nominees will be presumably drawn.  I would prefer as sharp a distinction as possible between these two pools of candidates.  There seems to be an undercurrent of thought that styling candidates as "self-nominated" somehow reduces their importance, but I cannot see it this way -- we are, after all, all sufficiently anarchic out here to see this as a positive thing.  I hope.
