I am certain the ICANN staff never intended any pejorative connotation to the expression "self-nominated."  It was probably just a literal descriptor. However, VB is correct. During the course of the past two months, repeatedly juxtaposed against "nominated" candidates, it has become a badge of inferiority.   Maybe ICANN could use a term like "Independent" candidates versus "Institutional" candidates.                     Dennis Schaefer Marblehead MA USA
