The ccTLD of .ae would like to express its concern and ovservation on the proposed
newTLD .dubai..ae is the two letter code of the United Arab Emirates ( UAE).
The
United Arab Emirates, established on 2 December 1971 , as an independent federal
state comprising of the followings emirates ( states):
Abu Dhabi ,Dubai
,Sharjah , Ajman ,Umm al-qaiwain ,Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah.
So, Dubai is a
geographic term within UAE and one of UAE memeber states. Hence; the establishement
of .dubai would be likely rise to confusion ( Likelihood of confusion ), misleading,
and infringenet to .ae right of use of .dubai and conflict to its business
( service and goods).
ICANN is kindly requested to take a careful to GAC communique
:
"Recognising ICANN's responsibilities to achieve consensus
in the creation
of any new gTLDs, ICANN should avoid, in
the creation of new gTLDs the alpha-3
codes of ISO 3166-1;
well known and famous country, territory or regional language
or people descriptions; or ISO 639 codes for representation
of languages,
unless in agreement with the relevant governments
or public authorities."
So,
in view of the above we urge ICANN not to take any action regarding the .dubai proposal
without the agreement of .ae ccTLD.
We would like to take this
opportunity to extend our deep appreciation and thanks to ICANN efforts in this regard.
