After reviewing their summaries, most especially regarding comments on IOD and Afilias, it is obvious that ICANN has no intention of promoting competition with the introduction of new TLDs.
This (the apparent upcoming selection of Afilias to run the .web regitry) will be the undoing of ICANN as it will inflame those of us that have followed and participated in the growth of the internet.
ICANN's comments were VERY obviously biased, and there will be repercussions on a global scale.
Of COURSE Afilias has projected a more stable plan - they've been running the root system from the beginning!
IOD is being penalized and publicly chatised by ICANN for being THE pioneer - a pioneer without the billions of dollars behind Afilias.
