Straight from ICANN's comments:
"Finally, based upon
its historical experience, Image Online Design has not demonstrated the ability to
grow, even when performing other services such as web hosting and design. Overall,
the other applications in this group are significantly more realistic and would result
in much more viable competition for the .com registry."This is biased opinion,
plain and simple, not based on fact.
IOD has not demonstrated the ability to grow?
Wake up ICANN, IOD *IMPLEMENTED* the .web registry and has led the fight for a new
TLD long before ICANN was formed! They haven't had the need to grow, not until .web
is introduced into the root system.
The lame comments about two of the principals
running auto dealerships is also ridiculous. Ever hear of Henry Ford? He couldn't
rebuild an engine to save his life. But he knew where to find the talented individuals
that could! Somehow, having researched C. Ambler on my own, it's quite obvious that
he can find and employ some of the best and brightest on the planet, if and when
the need arises.
ICANN's comments regarding IOD's application are blatant, unsubstantiated
opinions to try to cover-up the fact that they want to award .web registry to Afilias.
