---> If you think this fact
will be lost in court, you are mistaken. IOD gave value to .WEB, through
years of hard work and customer support.
Now ICANN wants to give the fruits of
that hard work to a company which greases the wheels at ICANN. <---It's
hard to explain, but this reminds me of certain cartoons
such as Tom & Jerry.
Often it happens that Tom Cat makes a hard work to drive out Jerry Mouse from his
hiding place, then another cat comes suddenly and catches the mouse!
Of course
Tom Cat is IOD and the other cat is Afilias, who
came in the last minute and profited
of the hard work of IOD.
However, I am confident that ICANN is more serious than
cartoons...
--->
In my opinion, ICANN (and the current board members, whether they stay with ICANN
or not) will spend the remainder of their lives in court if the rewards of IOD's
hard work are handed, on a platter, to a company which pays money, stock, or
some other compensation to those board members. <---
I don't think (and I
can't believe) that Afilias pays ICANN board
members.
However I believe that,
if .web is given to Afilias, IOD and many
IOD supporters will start lawsuits that
will block the new TLD
for years. So, giving .web to Afilias will cause a lot
of troubles
both to ICANN and to the new TLD (.web ).
---> So I ask the board
members, before you decide to sell out the internet for a few shekels, is it really
worth the inevitable grief?
<---
The obvious, natural and fair solution is .web
to IOD
(and .info to Afilias is Afilias is supposed to be assigned a TLD).
This
will make .web available IMMEDIATELY for the Internet:
IOD means a functioning
registry rather than legal troubles.
Afilias means legal troubles rather than
a coming registry.
Remember that the IOD vs. CORE lawsuit about trademarking .web
is
under appeal at this time: imagine what may happens if IOD wins the lawsuit! (However,
even though IOD loses this lawsuit,
has many other strong points to start other
lawsuits).
