People should note the relatively low number of votes, and the fact that surveys
conducted on the MSNBC site are *not* scientific. Therefore, the results are less
than reliable, and other surveys have produced different results (one such survey
found .shop to be the most popular). Regardless, there are lots of very useful
TLDs out there, however the popularity of a TLD is not (and should not be) the deciding
factor in the selection process. For example, there may be a single company applying
to run the .shop TLD, but if ICANN decides, based on their application, that the
company is not capable of running a stable registry, the .shop TLD should not be
selected just because it is popular. The ultimate decision should be based on the
usefulness of the TLD *and* the capabilities of the applicant.
