Thanks for posting the above letter.
As a result, my email to the SBA:Dear
Mr. Menge,
I just saw a copy of your letter to ICANN dated April 14, 2000 regarding
your disapproval of the implementation of a "sunrise period".
Are you aware that
ICANN is scheduled to choose new TLDs on Thursday and that they judged applicants
partly on their plans to adopt a "sunrise period"?
Please review:
http://www.icann.org/tlds/report/report-iiib1a-09nov00.htm
particularly:
"Some
of the significant factors of a well-thought-out plan include (1) whether the applicant
provides for a "sunrise period"..."
I'd be very interested to hear your response
to ICANN's failure to heed your organization's recommendations. Personally, I feel
the second alternative you recommended to ICANN (.tmk or other TLD) was an excellent
idea, and that trademark policy-making is not within ICANN's realm of duties.
