This message is very well put and said.

ICANN will miss the boat if they neglect to accept a .shop

The entire process of releasing new Top Level Domain names was, if I read it correctly, to increase competition and the ability for more people to have access to the Web.  While many of the proposed TLDs are good and will help in this endeavor, one will be sorely missing if .shop is not included.

This TLD will not only increases the ability for new e-commerce sites to appear, but it has a tremendous potential to help Internet consumers find what they are looking for, more easily than ever.

I hope that the ICANN Board of Directors is not doing that which I have read in other postings, i.e., only taking the recommendations of the Staff, or even worse, reversing the process to have the Staff justify what they planned all along.  I prefer to believe in the integrity of the ICANN Board and in its ability to discern what is best for the Internet and its users.
