Please stop this action that has been implemented by Verisign, as it is both misleading and inappropriate.

Unclaimed domain addresses are by all definitions non-existent domains and should result in a "no response" error. By implementing a wildcard dns entry for all non-existent domain addresses, Verisign is profiting for something that should not exist in the first place and is for all intensive purposes public domain space. Until a name is created and paid for, this public domain space should not be used directly or indirectly for commercial purposes. The wildcard dns for unassigned domains by Verisign is clearly an unethical and inappropriate use of public domain space.

In my opinion, if Verisign wants to implement a wildcard dns entry for all unassigned domain names, public domain space, then Verisign should pay ICANN a fee for every unassigned domain name as though they have registered each name through legitimate channels and using the appropriate forms, which should then be reimbursed to legitimate domain name owners or holders.

Then again, if Verisign does not have to pay for the use of domain names, even though unassigned, then everyone should from here on in get their domain names free of charge for an indefinite period of time at the sole expense of Verisign for as long as Verisign continues with this cash grab. Verisign is clearly a company who has outgrown their usefulness as the internets central registry, and as such, it is high time that ICANN and it's governing bodies seek a new central registrar who will not abuse their privileges as public trustee. Their only means of direct profit from domain names should be Network Solutions, a company owned and operated by Verisign for the purpose of domain registrations, a service which also has the webs most expensive registration rates for com and net domain addresses.

Verisign, internet Enron of the future.

Sincerely
Thomas Taenzer
