VeriSign has made some major flaws. First they seem
to think the Internet is the WWW. Second, they abused
their responsibility in the maintance of the .com and .net
TLDs.
But perhaps there was some good in this if it causes
people to fix the underlying problem. What problem?
The problem of alowing amoral entities (corporations)
to control critical world-wide infrastructure. Their
goal is to make lots of money. That is inconsistent
with doing what is right for the entire Internet
community.
Initial steps:
1) Transfer all DNS TLD maintance/operations to
non-profit organizations.
2) Transfer all TLD registration to non-profit
organizations.
3) Have VeriSign's corporate charter revoked.
