I am forwarding herewith some brief comments submitted by the LK Domain Registry on the IDN Fast Track process - Draft Final Report. This has been already circulated to the ccNSO-IDN mailing list Sri Lanka is continuing the consultation process on the above subject, under the auspices of ICTA, with the participation of the ccTLD registry and the technical as well as language communities. Section 2, Meaningfulness Requirement, item c), states: "an acronym of the name of the Territory that denotes the Territory in the language." An acronym would be used when the name consists of multiple words, and is a word formed from the initial letters of the several words in the name. In some cases, we may wish to form the TLD as an abbreviation (i.e., a shortened form of a word or phrase) of the name of the Territory. An example of an abbreviation would be the use of "Mr." in place of "Mister". Therefore, I suggest that item c) be changed to: "an acronym or abbreviation of the name of the Territory that denotes the Territory in the language."
