The Children's Charities' Coalition on Internet Safety is an alliance of the
UK's professional child welfare and child protection organizations with an
interest in children's use of the internet and related digital
technologies.
Verisign has shown little inclination to remedy the many manifest problems
that exist within .com in relation to the illegal misuse of the DNS. A vague
promise to attempt to renegotiate the terms is far from satisfactory because
it is not guaranteed to produce any worthwhile changes, yet change is
urgently needed. In a separate submission our colleagues in Enacso have
provided plenty of evidence of how Verisign's custodianship of .com
continues to put children in danger. Unless and until that is put right or
at least until a course of action to put it right has been agreed Verisign
should not be allowed to continue to manage the domain.
