hi all,

this is a personal comment that shares some really interesting results from a
brief but intense review of corp.com query traffic conducted by Interisle
Consulting Group.

the short summary of what i found

-- the data is interesting. a fair amount of detail is provided in the
Appendix to this memo

-- the conclusion. i don't think it's possible to mitigate the name-collision
risk using the approach proposed by ICANN staff

-- the way forward. i would be very interested in providing this data-stream
to others (researchers, working groups, vendors, network operators, etc.) to
better understand these risks and figure out how to mitigate them.

the report is attached,

mikey o'connor
