Dear ICANN,
I am writing to express our condemnation of the Settlement Agreement.
Our company, established in Panama in 2002, is in Internet business and
we have been providing domain name registrations to international
customers, but also to many customers from third world countries.
Inexpensive domains helps a lot to keep the business going and
increasing domain prices would effectively decrease the image of our
company with our customers and that forces us to keep the image although
domain business would suffer a lot.
Let me quote and add from: http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/Monopoly.html
Domain prices should be lowered each year, not increased. By increasing
the price or a service in favor of one company which has the monopoly
never had any success in past. Successful monopolists earn extra large
profits by raising prices above what they would be with competition, so
that customers pay more and the monopolists (and perhaps their
employees) gain. When the monopolist raises prices above the competitive
level in order to reap his monopoly profits, customers buy less of the
product, less is produced, and society as a whole is worse off. In
short, monopoly reduces society's income.
We sincerely hope that Settlement Agreement will not come to effect and
ask you to carefully review all the facts and details and to review the
history of monopolies and that they as such never last long.
Sincerely,
John Louis on behalf of
president of Thetaworld Corporation
